SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Primary Responsibilities • Provides architectural and
'big picture' oversight for development of new or
enhanced systems, networks, and products. •
Responsible for establishing current and long-range
direction of applications architecture to support the
company's product and service offerings. • Acts as a
high-level technical expert, addressing problems of
systems integration, compatibility, and multiple
platforms. • Designs architecture components including
2-, 3-, and 4-tier architectures, which also
encompasses data warehousing and web delivery. • Plans
and develops high available Enterprise web and
application server infrastructure. • Develops tools to
support automated processes and procedures. • Develops
and implements fault tolerant, highly redundant,
highly secure, and scalable Enterprise solutions. •
Assists in the development of application services
optimization strategy. • Mentors and trains
entry-level technical support staff. • Works with
vendors for the testing and implementation of new
technologies. • Performs feasibility analysis on
potential future projects to management. • Maintains
awareness of key technology trends in the industry and
applicability to RLPT stated technology direction.
Secondary Responsibilities • Performs other duties as
requested by management Minimum Qualifications •
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or
Information Technology with 8 or more years experience
in architectural roles in multiple specialty domains.
• Understands the methodology to define, analyze and
design an automated solution. • Experience in UML and
structured development environments • Requires strong
conceptual thinking and the ability to effectively
communicate technical or abstract concepts. •
Technology Leadership role on multiple large-scale
projects. • Expertise in J2EE architecture, Web
Services and SOA.
• Strong experience in the following general
technologies is preferred: Hibernate, Struts, JSF,
Application Servers, Portal, Enterprise Middleware,
high availability, networking, and security • Advanced
multiple languages skills in DHTML, HTML, Java,
PL/SQL, XML, Macros, XSLT, XQuery and/or other
Scripting Languages. • Strong experience in the
following specific technologies is preferred: Solaris,
Oracle RDBMS, XML/XSD, Tibco. • Advanced knowledge of
hardware and operating system capabilities in multiple
environments including Linux, UNIX and Windows •
Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem
solving and leadership/facilitation skills. • Ability
to work independently as well as in a team
environment.
